Dangerous Medicine

Simon Townsend is unquestionably a genius, his IQ is almost off the charts and by the time he is thirty he has three doctoral degrees in pharmacology and genetics and he is going to save the world.

The pharmaceutical company he founded, after minor initial problems, is listed on the stock exchange and soon becomes one of the most sought after shares.

Trouble is however brewing and the company finds itself embroiled in one of the first class actions suits in South Africa involving a pharmaceutical company. One of their generic drugs is said to cause tumours.

Albert de Jonge, director, research and development, illegally acquires an anti malaria vaccine from an American pharmaceutical company and the race is on to complete the trials and to patent and licence the drug before the Americans. But will the short cuts they take expose the subjects to additional risks and the company to further litigation?

Simon’s wealth soars along with the share price but the easy money side tracks him from his original goal and he becomes obsessed with trying to find the ultimate anti ageing solution. Working with another geneticist, a solution appears to be in sight, but are the side effects worth the risk?

Sex for deals, murder and insider share trading are some of the other actions that keep the book racing to its’ conclusion.
